The Pieterskerk Christmas concert will be performed by the Ensemble William Byrd directed by Nico van der Meel and Leo Doeselaar on the organ.

The program features beautiful choral music in Christmas atmosphere from the Renaissance, interspersed with appropriate organ solos on the majestic organ of Hagerbeer by the titular organist of the Pieterskerk. Works  of Sweelinck, Praetorius, Gabrieli, Schütz, Scheidt and Byrd.

Leo van Doeselaar is a dedicated chamber music performer on both historic and modern pianos. He is organist of the Van Hagerbeer-organ (1643) of the Leiden Pieterskerk as well as titular organist of the Concertgebouw. In 2007, Leo van Doeselaar received the prestigious ‘Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck' Award for his merits for the organ culture.
