EXPLORE! is a project to discover the history of the Pieterskerk Leiden in your own way. A journey of discovery through the ages. The Pieterskerk has been part of  the heart of the city of Leiden for nearly 900 years. Leiden has always played an important role in the history of the Netherlands.

The subjects directly related to the Pieterskerk can be identified by the logo of the Pieterskerk.

Example:

Scroll through the centuries and you will see that the history of the Netherlands runs through the Pieterskerk. The very place where you put down your feet inside the Pieterskerk is very likely one where Floris V, Rembrandt, John Quincy Adams, Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela or Queen Beatrix have left their footprints behind.

EXPLORE! the Pieterskerk live and come to the Pieterskerk to really look at what you read here. Look here for tours. There are FREE guided tours FOR SCHOOLS (english tours are possible).

From September 2011 additional information can be downloaded per century block for primary schools teachers as well as students of grade 7 & 8. In EXPLORE! parts of the DVD about the history of the Pieterskerk are shown. Schools can apply for a free copy of the DVD, click here.

EXPLORE! was developed with support of Fonds 1818 and the Van der Mandele Foundation (only Dutch) as well as teachers from primary schools, representatives of the three large schools in Leiden
